Nantgaredig 52 - Llanybydder 10

Nantgaredig are through to the next round of the WRU Bowl competition with a convincing win over fellow Carmarthenshire team Llanybydder. Coach Tomos Marks was quietly satisfied with the home team performance. 'The first half was particularly pleasing where our defence stood firm when the opposition had a lot of possession' quoted Marks.  'The pressure told when we forced them into errors and the boys picked off two tries to give us a lead of 12 points to 3 at half time. Nant scored a try early in the second half which gave us the necessary momentum from which Llanybydder never recovered' added Marks.

Rhys Edwards opened the scores with a try and claimed another in the second half when he touched down beneath the posts. Meirion Davies celebrated his selection to play for the West Wales XV by bagging a try and 5 conversions. His older brother Carwyn had a fine game at second row winning quick ball at the lineout and working well with his partner Gwyn Pierce in the boiler house. The front row of captain Elfed Daniels, hooker Rhys Evans and prop Lee Williams gave the home team a solid base in the scrum and in defence. Llanybydder scored a consolation try late into the game by forward Richard Davies converted by Steff Richards.

Congratulations also to Rhydian Evans and Dafydd Lewis on being selected to play for the West Wales XV against Pontarddulais RFC on Friday 2nd November.
