Nantgaredig 30 - Trimsaran 0

The Nantgaredig team picked themselves up after a disappointing performance the previous week away at Lampeter to record a fine win against visiting Trimsaran.   For their part, Trimsaran were playing only their second game of the season having had a league game postponed and a walk over in the Bowl.

Nantgaredig exerted the early pressure with a penalty kick and then a scrum close to the line resulting in a push over try scored by number eight Tom Eldred.   Trimsaran slowly began to show the style of running rugby we're used to seeing from the team only for a pass to go to ground or loss of footing on a wet surface to break up the movement.   Both sides missed further penalty kicks to leave the half time score at 10 – 0.

The early part of the second half commenced with both sides attempting to move the ball in slippery conditions. Trimsaran pressed for a score to bring them back into the game only for some desperate defending to hold them out. The game then suffered a lengthy delay whilst treatment was provided to a Nantgaredig player which thankfully turned out to be a minor injury.

The game eventually came to life with a planned move by the Nantgaredig three quarters.   Full back Dafydd Lewis entered the line to cut clean through the Trimsaran defence. Supporting back row Curon Davies then passed inside to scrum half George Gleeson who was driven over by the arriving pack for a try beneath the posts. Nantgaredig now had their tails up and another try from wing Rhydian Evans sealed the result. In the final minutes a quickly taken tap penalty by George Gleeson forced his way from five metres over the Trimsaran line.

Scores: Nantgaredig - tries: Tom Eldred, George Gleeson (2), Rhydian Evans. Cons: Meirion Davies(2), Pens: Meirion Davies (2).
