PENYBANC 18 NANTGAREDIG 31

 This was the final game of an extended season for Nantgaredig and with a number of players unavailable for various reasons, it was a case of calling on reinforcements from outside the club in order to fulfil the fixture. In came Newcastle Emlyn duo of Alex Williams and Shaun Leonard and they had a significant influence on the game. Penybanc also drafted in a number of players with Owain Roberts at outside half making a huge contribution to their play.

Nant started the game strongly with number 8 Scot Edwards breaking away from a driving maul to cross the line unopposed. Penybanc came back strongly with a penalty by Roberts and then a try by Andy McCall. Nant scored another try before half time to leave the game finely balanced at 11-12.

Second half saw some good running rugby from both sides with both Alex Williams and Shaun Leonard scoring tries for Nant. Leonard showed some brilliant touches with both of his tries starting from defence positions and running the length of the field beating player after player to score. Owain Roberts also scored a fine individual try to keep Penybanc in touch but Nant pulled away towards the end with a final try scored by winger Iwan Thomas.
