Nantgaredig v Burry Port - 04/05/16

NANTGAREDIG 23 BURY PORT 27

It was a return to league action for Bury Port on Wednesday evening at Nantgaredig following their excellent win the previous Saturday at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. They may be winners of the WRU Bowl Competition but it was Nantgaredig that took the lead early in the match and were to maintain control until the final minutes when Bury Port scored in the corner to take the winning bonus points.

This was an excellent match for the spectators to watch with a total of 8 tries scored. Nantgaredig went into the match without a recognised goal kicker which was ultimately to prove costly having missed 5 opportunities to add points. Nantgaredig scored 4 tries by their threequarters and the two Carwyn's at half back had excellent games as did the other Carwyn Davies in the second row.

Bury Port scored two tries with their forwards using the driving maul to great effect which is a tribute to their coach Gareth Gravell. They have a number of league games to play and are in a good chance of winning the league to complete a fantastic season.

Nantagredig will be pleased with their mid table position in what is their 50th anniversary year and will consider to have performed well in a very competitive league.
